100 Bells sent to 100 Patients across the US, Canada and the UK!
The Resilience Bell project started with love and a mission to bring hope to cancer patients who were overlooked and forgotten.
The Lore of the Resilience Bell
In her Patient Story video, Michelle Reed explained that bladder cancer is often a chronic cancer, and that urology clinics do not offer a bell to ring after treatments the way most oncology clinics do, which leaves patients without a way to celebrate a big win. After seeing that video, Steven Kuchler made the first bell for his partner, Kristian Pino, to ring during his own bladder cancer treatment.
When Michelle saw the video of Kristian ringing his bell, she knew it could be a source of hope for so many patients in the bladder cancer community, and for others living with chronic or lifetime cancers. She approached Steven and Kris with the idea of partnering to bring the Resilience Bell to patients everywhere, and she offered her guidance and financial support to make it happen. She invited them to design and name the bell, and she took on managing the project so Kris could focus on his treatment. In May 2026, the three of them came together as Team Resilience. Steven decorated every bell by hand, while Michelle gave the project a home here and handled the marketing and shipping, down to packing each box and handwriting a message on it. Our deepest gratitude goes to an anonymous donor who made it possible for every bell to ship to patients at no cost.
Together, Team Resilience sent 100 Resilience Bells to cancer patients across the US, Canada, and the UK. Each photo and video below is a real story, and those stories gave people hope. Michelle is proud of what the team built together. As she steps away after helping the bell reach patients in three countries, she trusts Kristian and Steven to carry the project forward and keep helping patients celebrate their small wins.
Michelle is already hard at work on new projects that will bring fresh hope to patients in 2027!
